Viva Las Vegas Baby Part One

Howdy Folks,
I thought it was time to post about my recent visit to Las Vegas.  After my hubby got back from the Philippines, in the beginning of May, he had a security convention to go to in Las Vegas and since I had never been there before (really) I tagged along.  I know, I know, I live only a few hours from Las Vegas and I'm over 50, you'd of thunk I'd have been there before now.........nope, I'm a Vegas late bloomer.

Anyhoo, we got to stay at the swanky Red Rock Casino & Resort, which is about 20 minutes away from the  "strip" but our room had a view of the "strip."  Now, I'm not a gambler, by any means, and I hate smoking so I mostly stayed away from the casinos.  Yes, they have state of the art air filtration now, but I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke, and in my opinion it was still pretty stinky in the casinos.

Our room, however, wasn't stinky at all, it was really quite nice.  A lovely king size bed, fully stocked mini bar, and not one, but two television screens.......one in the bathroom over the tub!!!!!  The bathroom was almost fully encased in marble, and even had a telephone in by the toilet.........yeah sure, I'm gonna' yap on the phone while I'm doin' my business...............NOT.

If you click on the image collages....they get bigger for better viewing!
See how nice the room is!
The convention was held at the resort, very convenient, and the first night there they had a welcoming party out by the pool.  There were lot's and lot's of people, acrobats, and circus types all around.  Since there are so many Cirque du Soleil shows there, the entertainment was themed around the various shows.

Look how strong!

Sweet hubby with some of the characters!
I went to breakfast in one of the many restaurants located within the resort.  Check out all the yummy goodies they had in their bakery case.
Yes, I did partake, but this was before I started my no sugar
diet from which I've lost over 30 pounds now.
Some interior shots of the resort and casino, plus two "trick" shots I took of the strip at night from our room. I used my new camera and played with it.

That's it for now folks, but keep watching as Part Two will be comin' up next, where I actually go out on the town.......sort of............I'll explain later.

Have a great week,
Meri

I live 6 hours from Vegas...but we visit quite often. We decided a few years ago to invest in a 2 bedroom condo to give us someplace to stay and our kids a vacation getaway. It's only a few hours more to Disneyland so it's been fun to be able to visit there often. We stay away from the strip except on New Years Eve and when we go to a show. Lucky you to stay at Red Rock...it's really a nice hotel and casino. Our favorite is Green Valley Ranch...it's in a trending shopping area and has great restaurants and we go there to the movies. Loved your post!

What fun pictures! How nice that you were able to enjoy a change of scenery. Congratulations on the loss of 30 pounds too. That's fantastic, Meri! The software vendor that I'm in charge of supporting at our University is holding their annual conference in Vegas next July. My husband and I were tossing around the idea of going and leaving the girls behind...you've tempted me.
