I'm goin' on a journey.....of a sort!

Hello Friends,

I am embarking on a serious journey.  Starting today I am detoxing for the next two weeks.  Some of you know, if you've followed me long enough, that I am a chronic pain sufferer and I've been on pain medication for the past 10 years.  I no longer have health insurance, which means I can no longer afford the cost of my pain medication (upwards of $1,900 a month just for just one of the many prescriptions I take).  I will be back to blogging regularly by the 18th of June, with only one posting around the 11th, as I intend to participate in the fabulous link party hosted by Castles, Crowns and Cottages.

The post I intend to have by the 18th will announce the beginning of my 5th Blog Anniversary giveaway, which will be the last sculptural giveaway of the year, so you might imagine that it will be spectacular.  Don't freak out, I will still have more giveaways coming, just not of the sculptural type, and next year I hope to continue with more sculptural giveaways.

Please forgive me for not getting around to all my dear friends during this time, but I won't forget you, and when I'm feeling better, I hope to be back to visiting all of you regularly once again.  I would like to ask you all to keep me in your prayers as this is a most difficult journey and being the big whining crybaby that I am, I am sure to be making my dear hubby miserable.......please say some prayers for him as well.

God Bless, and I hope to see you all soon,

Big Hugs,

Viv's new little friend

Hi Folks,

Say hello to Viv's new little friend.  I don't yet know what she will name him, so you'll have to check her blog out for the next week or so to see if she mentions him.  Dearest Viv of "Viv's Whimsy" was my spring giveaway winner and she chose this adorable valentine kitten (I did not include the valentine heart he was holding in the image) and sans the heart, he is suitable for viewing all year long!

I think he's stinkin' adorable, and once again I found it hard to part with him.  He started out like this:

Pretty much all my sculpts start with armatures
made of double twist wire and Styrofoam.  I
staple the wire feet to the wooden base and
squeeze glue over the staples and wire for
extra stability.  This image is missing the half-
round Styrofoam balls I used on his legs.

In the beginning I just start laying on the clay,
moulding it around the wires and Styrofoam, until
I get the basic shape.

At this point I may add a bit of detail and then
start the process of the first drying time which
I call the "dry cracking stage."  The first time I let
a sculpt dry, I will find cracks in the clay surface
everywhere.  For you first time sculpterers, don't
let this dissuade's all part of the process.

After the first "dry cracking stage" I will fill in the
annoying cracks with more clay that I've made "soupier"
by adding more water to it.  I will then start spackling
the cracks and making the surface smoother and
more appealing.  I'm very blessed here in Arizona
in that during the spring, summer and fall months
the weather is usually dry and HOT, so my sculpts
end up "fired" by the sun rather quickly.

Here he is in all his glory!

I will be hosting my last giveaway of the year in June to celebrate my fifth year of blogging.  Please keep an eye out for the post, and please stop by my shop and take advantage of the super low pricing on my older pieces.  Once they are gone, they're gone and since they are all OOAK, you will never see their like again.  By purchasing one of my older pieces, you will be helping me enormously in giving me the room I need to create more.

Thanks for stopping by and I will be around very soon to catch up on all your blogs.

Big hugs,

My Etsy Store has Reopened!

Let's get the kids and go shopping!

My store is open again, and I've knocked prices down on older pieces by over 40%.  Don't wait, get over there now and get em' before they're gone!  I've also listed my newest pieces.

I've still been pretty busy with all the goin's on, and now we've begun the task of cleaning out my mom's wanna' talk goodies!!  This is going to take 4 or 5 trips to clear out and organize for an estate sale, and now we're coming up on our yucky super hot summer.

Here's some sneak peeks at what's goin' on in my studio:

And here's a sneak peek of some of the goodies I've already gotten from my mom's house:

I'll go into further detail soon.  Last but not least, here's the latest picture I took of Vivian's sculpture (it's further along than this, but I'm slow with piccy's):

More to come, but please hurry over to my Etsy shop and check things out, and please feel free to purchase anything!

I'm Baaaaaaaaaack!

Yipee Skipee

Hi Folks,

The biggest reason I haven't been blogging husband has been in the Philippines for the past five weeks, and not only have I had to do an extra huge amount of driving (which I'm not keen on) I've been hustling around scrounging money for bills, taking my mom on errands, working on Viv's sculpt, redecorating my craft room/studio......the list goes on.  In addition, I've missed my husband terribly and I do not sleep well when he's gone so it has affected me greatly.  I just don't feel like doing anything when my perfect mate is gone.....but he's back now......oh happy day (picture me dancing cause it's really not gonna' happen).  Inside I'm whole again and I've had the best two days of sleep in a very long time.  I told a few of you, in emails, but for security reasons I just didn't want to say anything while he was gone.

Anyhoo, there's a lot going on right now and next week I promise I'll post piccy's of the goodies he brought me, the progress on Viv's sculpture, my craftroom and I'll restart my Etsy store.  I'm also working on a website, but for now I'm just gonna' show you a preview of some of the newer pieces going in my Etsy store.

Here's "Rooty Tooty Rooster":

"Little Lamb":

"Gerry Giraffe":

"Plaid Puppy":

And "Smart Kitty":

These will be available next week in my shop, and the rest that I still have will be on sale, so please keep an eye out for my announcement of my reopened store.

Have a great weekend!
