Things are Putzin' along okay!

Hello wondrous people,

I have a few minutes to get a quick post out there, so here goes.  Things are progressing for the "Putzin' Around" event.  I've got all the supplies, and now I'm in the process of tearing my house apart cleaning and reorganizing.  I'm about 50% done, but it's taking me a looooooong time.  Thankfully, the appointments for my mom have slowed down this month, however, she's having possibly two out-patient procedures in the next few weeks.  The first one is on the 12th and it's called an EUS or endoscopic ultra sound, and will determine whether she has the second, more complicated one called ERCP which will again be endoscopic and explore her bile duct for obstructions or malfunctions.  We're hoping that after the first procedure we'll find that she doesn't need the second, as either of them can irritate the pancreas and cause further complications.

Okay, maybe this isn't gonna' be so short after all, anyhoo, here's some shots of the decor going up here:

The gifts are piling up in anticipation of the guests.  There's going to be about 13 of us and the gifts range in value from $8 up to $25.........maybe more, it all depends on what the recipient feels it's worth anyway.  I've made some of the gifts, but I guarantee there are no goofy gifts this year.

One last thing to show you.  I bought a Danbury Mint collectible doll at Goodwill a while back with the intention of fixing her up for Christmas.  This is what she looked like before:

And here she is after:

Look at that sweet face

She's holding a vintage "looking" Santa
compass that I've had for about 10 years

I had to make a new pattern for her as
she wasn't wearing a dress before

I think she turned out cute, and I like the way she's looking upwards like she's anticipating Santa to come any minute.  I might do more to her later, but for now I like her simplicity.

Thanks for stopping by.  If I get a chance to do another post before the party, I'll definitely do it.  I will be back for sure after the party with more images.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Hugs,
Meri

The winner is.............

A sincere thank you to those brave souls that posted and/or promoted me on their facebook pages.  My winner for the two autumn leaves is:

Melanie

Melanie, thank you so much for taking the time to post about my auction, I really appreciate your support.

Folks, I have been so incredibly busy lately.  I'm in the process of tearing my house apart for cleaning and sorting out things, to sell or give away, as I most likely will be downsizing next year.  Depending on what happens with my mom in the next few months, will decide whether we move or not.  We need to scale way down as it will be just hubby and I by next May as our youngest will be graduating high school and off to college.  We are not getting any younger and our house is too large for just the two of us.  I don't know about the rest of you, but 2,700 square feet is just too much for me to clean, especially in my condition.  Not to mention that we're on 1/3 of an acre of land that never gets taken care of.  I'm exhausted just looking out the windows and seeing all the weeds, dirt and crap that makes up our backyard.

Now having said that, my mom will be undergoing yet another surgical procedure in the near future, called an ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography - radiography following injection of a radiopaque material into the papilla of Vater. This is done through a fiberoptic endoscope guided by use of fluoroscopy.).   This procedure will hopefully tell us what's going on with her bile duct, which has been bothering her for months now.  However, this is a tricky procedure and the risk of nicking her pancreas or intestines is high and could send her back in to the hospital.  Should it be needed, she might have to move back in with us, so we won't know for sure if we're moving until the first half of next year.  Since cleaning takes me so long, I'm doing the weeding out of unnecessary decor now.

I hope you understand that I won't be blogging as much, nor visiting, until after my event on the 9th of November.  Do not fear, I will be back with a vengeance and have all kinds of pictures to post.  I'll be having about 12 ladies for the party and so much cuteness to share.

Thank you, again, to all of you who keep my mom in your prayers, and I hope you know how much it means to me.  Please have a safe and fun Halloween ya'll.

Hugs,
Meri

Can you help me please?

My EBAY auction is live and I'd love it if you all
would help me to get the word out.

These new pieces are quite a few steps up from my usual vintage inspired goodies, although these guys are actually inspired by a vintage Christmas "fuzzy wuzzy" book called "The Snowman That Wanted To Stay," by Sarah Derman and published in 1948.

If you write a post about me and about my auction, and then return here to leave a comment that you have done so, you will be entered into a drawing for both of  the adorable leaf men below.

These guys are made of Paperclay and are between 3" & 4" wide and 6" & 7" long excluding the hooks).  They would be wonderful on a fall tree or even a Christmas tree, or hang them from a light fixture, on a mirror, wherever you want a touch of whimsy.  They are strictly for indoor decor use, and not to be used outdoors unless you have a protected area, safe from direct sun, wind, moisture and rain.

Here's a button with a link directly to my EBAY store where the Icicle Men are listed.  They are available for the next 10 days.

or you can use the individual method of copying the button and then linking it with this URL:

After posting about this auction, please return here and leave me a comment that you have done so and you'll automatically be entered in the drawing for the leaf men.

I will be drawing names on Sunday, October 20, 2013 and once I have my winner, I will then contact you for an address and then ship your leaves ASAP.

I appreciate any and all help you can give me in this new venture of mine.  I would really appreciate if you sent out an email or text with the URL provided above, to all your friends and family and encourage them to check my shop and sign up for email
notifications on future auctions.

Update on mom:

My mom's MRI came back and there were no indications of any masses (thank God), but her bile duct is still showing enlarged.  Her doctor believes she might have a stone in her bile duct and will be doing an endoscopic/surgical look at her in a as yet to be scheduled out-patient procedure.  Thank you once again for all your prayers and healing thoughts.  I know that it's helping a lot, and I tell my mom about all the sweet things you all say to me and for her.

Thank you again for all
your continued support!

Hugs,
Meri
